You will need to remove all of the molding and baseboards. Remove wooden floors, carpet, or any existing floor coverings. Clean the subfloor making sure it is free of dust and debris. Make sure the floor is stable and tough. Install cement backer board onto the floor that was stabilized and at every floor joist screw, the backer board in with 2 inches galvanized screws. The old flooring will need to be disposed of, and most rubbish services do not pick up things that are such.


Use a chalk line to mark two lines that intersect in the centre of the region. Ensure that the lines are square to each other (90 degrees). Place spacers between the tiles, leaving enough room for the grout. Look at the way the tiles are arranged; you need as many entire tiles in the centre as you can. Before you're happy with the way they've been placed fiddle with the tile.

Use set to hold your tiles in position. Use a notched trowel to spread the thin set. Spread the thin-set merely to as far as you are able to reach and lay a tile. Install your tiles into the inset having a firm downward pressure. Don't forget to place spacers between the tiles. You can tap on the tile gradually to ensure that it is in place. Start at the center and work out to the walls. Border tiles and the cut tiles are installed.
